"Buran" 2612/6503714 80001
This timepiece has an amazing history! In 1939, the German military procured watches with Urofa-Ufag (now Tutima) for the German Air Force. The Flieger design ("Pilot" in German) Chronograph was developed in 1941 and during the war the Urofa-Ufag factory in Glashutte supplied around 30,000 Flieger timepieces to the German Air Force. The Glashutte watch manufacturing facilities were one of the spoils of war that accompanied the Soviet Union victory in 1945. The Russians promptly seized the manufacturing machinery, remaining parts and the design for the Flieger line as war reparations. The assembly line was dismantled and shipped to Moscow, where it was reinstalled at the First Moscow Watch Factory (1stMWF), later named Poljot. Starting in 1947, the 1stMWF produced the Tutima chronograph. In 2000, Poljot reissued the Flieger design under the Buran and the 1st MWF Kirova brands.
